The Ministry of Finance of the People's Republic of China and the HKSAR Government announce today that the Central Government shall issue RMB6 billion worth of RMB Treasury Bonds in Hong Kong on September 28, 2009.

    中华人民共和国财政部和香港特别行政区政府今日(九月八日)公告,中央政府将于二零零九年九月二十八日在香港发行60亿元人民币国债。

The Central Government's issuance of RMB Treasury Bonds in Hong Kong is an important measure of the Central Government in supporting Hong Kong as an international financial centre with further development in the RMB business and in promoting Hong Kong's socio-economic prosperity and development. It is also a new milestone in the development of the RMB business in Hong Kong and carries great significance in broadening the depth and breadth of Hong Kong's bond market as well as in consolidating Hong Kong's position as an international financial centre. Issuance of the RMB Treasury Bonds shall strengthen the financial cooperation between the Mainland and Hong Kong and shall provide a secure and prudent investment alternative for investors.

    中央政府在香港发行人民币国债,是中央政府支持香港作为国际金融中心进一步发展人民币业务,促进香港经济社会繁荣发展的重要举措之一,亦是香港人民币业务发展的一个新的里程碑,对拓宽香港债券市场的深度与广度,以及巩固香港作为国际金融中心的地位具有重要意义。发行人民币国债将会加强内地与香港的金融合作,亦为投资者提供安全稳健的投资选择。
