IV．公共场所双语标识英文译法

独词路标的英文书写形式依国际惯例全部大写，如出口EXIT

方位词包括：“东、南、西、北、前、后、中、上、内、外”。其对应的英文译法分别为East（E.），South（S.），West（W.），North（N.），Front，Back，Middle，Upper，Inner，Outer，“东南、西南、东北、西北”其对应的英文译法分别为Southeast, Southwest, Northeast, Northwest；通常情况下，方位词含有指示方向的意义时应译成英文。当方位词本身固化为地名的一部分时，方位词采用汉语拼音，如东街口DONGJIEKOU

序数词通常情况下，如需要用序数词表达，其英文写法采用字母上标形式，如1st，2nd，3rd等，如东三环E. 3rd Ring Rd

名称中的数字不使用英文序数词形式，应直接使用阿拉伯数字表示，如闽江一桥MIN JIANG Bridge 1，2号看台Platform 2，3号收银台Cashier 3

冠词和介词，双语标识英文译法中尽量不使用冠词和介词，如颐和园 Summer Palace，但有些约定俗成的说法和固定用法除外，如天坛 Temple of Heaven

标点符号，双语标识英文译法中尽量不用任何标点符号，特殊情况除外，如长安大戏院 Chang’an Theater，工人体育场Workers’ Stadium；作为缩写形式的Ave，St，Rd和Expwy后均无“.”

警示提示信息，采用国际通行的惯例，一般用祈使句或短语表示，句中或短语中实意单词的首字母大写，如当心触电Danger! High Voltage，当心碰头Mind Your Head，当心踏空Watch Your Step，紧急时击碎玻璃Break Glass in Emergency等。

“小心……”，“注意……”，多译为Mind或Watch，如小心台阶Mind the Step，注意上方Watch Your Head。当提示意味较强的时候也译为Caution，如小心地滑，如果地面建筑材质本身较光滑时译为Caution! Slippery；如果是因为表面上有水等情况时，则译为Caution! Wet Floor

指示入口/出口的方向时译为Way in/ Way out

说明性标志一般用短语或祈使句表示，句中或短语中实意单词的首字母大写，介词、冠词小写，如仅供紧急情况下译为Emergency Use Only，车内发生紧急情况时，请按按钮报警Press Button in Emergency等，如句子较长，则仅句首字母大写即可，如Please close the door behind you

禁止性标志“请勿……”，“禁止……”一般都译为“Don’ t…”,““No…”，或“…Forbidden”，“… Prohibited”，句中或短语中各个单词的首字母都大写。如请勿登踏Don’ t Step On，请勿乱扔废弃物No Littering,严禁携带易燃易爆等危险品进站Dangerous Articles Prohibited，禁止摆卖Vendors Prohibited等。

功能设施信息通常采用英文直接翻译，应符合国际通用惯例，遵循英语语言习惯，英文单词首字母大写，其余小写，介词、冠词小写。

不同“口”的译法，一般“入口”以及“……入口”均译为Entrance，如“剧院入口”译为Entrance即可；而“出口”以及“……出口”均译为Exit，如“剧院出口”译为Exit即可，“紧急出口”译为Emergency Exit

楼层，如“1楼/层、2楼/层、3楼/层”等固定缩写为F1、F2、F3；地下1层、2层、3层固定缩写为B1、B2、B3

电梯译为Elevator/Lift，扶梯译为Escalator，步行楼梯译为Stairs

前台、服务台、接待一般译为Reception；问询处、咨询台译为Information

厕所、洗手间、卫生间、盥洗室统一为Toilet，涉及性别时，男厕译为Gents/Men；女厕译为Ladies/Women

残疾人译为Disabled，残疾人专用译为Disabled Only；无障碍设施译为Wheelchair Accessible，如在通道内标识Wheelchair Accessible表示无障碍通道，在厕所内标识Wheelchair Accessible表示无障碍厕位。
