以上单词均有首领或领导的含义。

Master

n.

1、雇主。

2、硕士，尤指大学文学硕士。常冠于有名望者的姓名前以示尊敬。该词现已讹用为“先生[ mister]”而加于头衔前，如议长先生、法官先生、总统先生等。

3、教师。

4、船长现通用“ captain”一词。

5、主事官。指对人或事有权威或控制权的人。中世纪用语，现已不再使用。

6、学院院长。

7、法官助理。特别任命以协助法庭诉讼的辅助司法官员。法官助理负责调取证言、对证据披露争议以及其他审前事项作出裁定、计算利息、估价年金、调査土地所有权负担等类似事项，一般法官助理应作成书面报告提交法庭。

英文释义：

1. Someone who has personal authority over another’s services; a principal who employsanother to perform one or more services and who controls or has the right to control the physical conduct of the other in the performance of the services;

2. A parajudicial officer(such as a referee, an auditor, an examiner, or an assessor)specially appointed to help a court with its proceedings.

Boss

n.

老板；上司；首脑。

v.

管理；指挥。

boss起源于美国口语，原指工头或作为雇主的老板，现扩大适用到所有管理、监督者或直接上司，或对某事物具有控制权者。

Chief

adj.

主要的；首要的。

n.

首领。

chief的含义最广，可泛术语，它所指的人所居地位一般较低，如 head of the telephone office为众人所推选并自愿追随者。

英文释义：

1. Someone who is put above the rest; the leader <chief of staff> .

2. The principal or most important part or position <commander-in-chief> .

Head

2、河源；上游。

3、卫生间。

Leader

n.

1、领导者；首领；指挥者。

2、(案件一方当事人的)资深出庭律师。

master多指被授予权力以使人服从者，但并不一定含 leader所具有的那种内在的让人自愿服从的能力。
