鄙视链，英文表达为Chain of Contempt。一词最早见于南方都市报2012年4月7日深圳杂志“城市周刊”专题，是当今网络社会中反映出的一种自我感觉良好，而瞧不起他人的现象。鄙视像条食物链，是个绕不开的怪圈。

职业鄙视链，英文可以表达为Occupational contempt chain。所谓职业鄙视（occupational discrimination），是雇主故意将具有相同教育水平和生产率潜力的A、B两个体（或群体）之中的B个体（或群体）的员工安排到低工资报酬的职业上或负较低责任的工作岗位上，而把高工资报酬的工作留给A个体或群体的员工，对B个体（或群体）的员工而言即是职业歧视。
