counterpart在法律文件中通常译为“副本”。一般来讲，“原件”用the original表示。除counterpart外，“副本”也常用copy，duplicate等来表达。

例 Each counterpart shall be deemed an original, and all of the counterparts together shall constitute but one and the same instrument.

【参考译文】 每一份副本应视为一份原件，所有副本一起应构成唯一的同一份文件。

例 This contract is executed in two counterparts each in Chinese and English, each of which shall be deemed equally authentic. This contract is in triplicate, effective since being signed/ sealed by three parties.
