Confine，imprison和jail这三个词都有“监禁”的含义。但是具体用法存在差异，以下做区分介绍。

Confine 常指监禁或幽禁；也指任何【使（人或动物）行动受到限制的行为】。如： He was confined in an internment camp in Utah. 他被监禁在犹他州的一个拘留营里。Keep the dog confined in a suitable travelling cage.把狗关进适于旅行的笼子里。

Imprison较为正式，通常指被监禁或者关押在监狱里，作为对【犯罪或政治反对派】的惩罚。 They were imprisoned for possession of drugs. 他们因拥有毒品而被监禁。He was imprisoned in 1965 for attempted murder. 他因谋杀未遂于1965年被监禁。
