Arson (也称为statutory arson) 有两种含义：

1、指普通法上规定的有意和有预谋地纵火焚烧他人住宅的犯罪，侵犯他人居住安全或占用财产之权利，称为“纵火焚宅罪”；

2、指制定法上规定的有意违法纵火焚烧他人财产(其内涵大于住宅)或自己之财产(如为骗保费)之犯罪，为广义的“纵火罪”。
