配股属上市公司的再融资行为。配股是上市公司根据公司发展需要，依照有关法律规定和相应的程序，向原股票股东按其持股比例、以低于市价的某一特定价格配售一定数量新发行股票的融资行为。

配股做名词讲时，其英文为rights issue。

投资百科中有关配股的英文释义如下：

A rights issue is an invitation to existing shareholders to purchase additional new shares in the company. This type of issue gives existing shareholders securities called rights. With the rights, the shareholder can purchase new shares at a discount to the market price on a stated future date. The company is giving shareholders a chance to increase their exposure to the stock at a discount price.

如：

“Rights Issue” means an offer of shares to holders of shares or any class thereof on the register on a fixed record date in proportion to their then holdings of such shares or class thereof (subject to such exclusion or other arrangements as the Directors may deem necessary or expedient in relation to fractional entitlements or having regard to any restrictions or obligations under the laws of, or the requirements of any recognised regulatory body or any stock exchange in, any territory outside Hong Kong). 

“配股”指依照指定之记录日期，向当日股东名册上所载之股份或任何类别股份之持有人，按彼等当时持有该等股份或该类别股份之比例提出配股要约（惟在涉及零碎配额，或涉及受香港以外地区之法律或任何认可管理机构或任何证券交易所所规定之限制或责任影响时，董事局可以其认为必要或属权宜之形式，将该等配额予以撤销或另作安排）。

“配股”做动词时，则并无固定的译法，可结合语境进行翻译：

比如，如为“向公司股东进行配股”，则可以译为offer shares to existing shareholders or allot/issue shares to existing shareholders，或offer existing shareholders the right to buy shares。只要能体现出向公司原股东发行/出售/分配股份均可。

但需要注意的是，allot shares并不完全等于配股中的股份配售。因为share allotment除了可以表示向公司原股东配售股份外，还可表示向公司新股东配售股份。

Rights issue只是share allotment的一种。（This is a type of share allotment under which a company offers its existing shareholders an opportunity to buy additional shares, in proportion to their shareholding, at a discounted price than the market rate.）
