Provisional specification 临时说明书。当某人向专利局申请专利时，必须提交说明书（Specification），用以描述其发明创造的实质。说明书分为完整说明书（complete specification）与临时说明书（provisional specification）两种。如果说明书是临时的，则必须在提出专利申请之日起12个月内提交完整的说明书，或者经专利局长决定可在此后不超过三个月的期间内提交。临时说明书是为了保证当事人从专利申请日起即获得优先权，因为一旦被批准授予专利，其专利有效期即从专利申请日起算。
