由于合同签署方一般都是两方以上，而合同各方在合同签署完成后都会保留一份合同原件或副本，所以合同一式几份的表达是非常常见的。在英文合同中，counterpart,copy,duplicate,original都用作表示合同一式几份。counterpart, copy和duplicate指副本，而original指的是正本，而且duplicate就有双重双份的意思，也常见in duplicate的用法，与此类似的还有in triplicate(一式三份），in quadruplicate（一式四份），in quintuplicate（一式五份），in sextuplicate（一式六份），in septuplicate（一式七份），in octuplicate（一式八份），in nonuplicate（一式九份），in decuplicate（一式十份）等等。如：

1.This Agreement is made in Chinese in four (4) originals, each original shall have the same legal force.

本合同以中文书就，一式四份，每份具有同等法律效力。

2.This Agreement may be executed simultaneously in two or more counterparts. Each counterpart shall be deemed an original, and all of the counterparts together shall constitute but one and the same instrument.

本协议文本可同时签署两份或多份副本。每一副本应视为一份原件，所有副本一起应构成唯一同一文件。

3.This Agreement may be executed in any number of counterparts, each of which shall be deemed an original, but all of which together shall constitute one and the same instrument. Facsimile and e-mailed copies of signatures shall be deemed to be orginals for purposes of the effectiveness of this Agreement.

本协议可签署多份文本，每一文本构成本协议的一份原件，但所有的文本一并构成唯一的同一份法律文件。传真和电子邮件发送的签字页复印件为本协议效力之目的应被视为原件。

4.The Contract is made out in English in four originals,two for each paarty.Within the validity period of the Contract, the communication between both parties shall be made in English; the formal notice shall be made in written form in two copies,sending by registered airmail.
